Artistes are messengers to the sublime
Updated: Aug 1, 2025
Music became the weapon of the future when artists like Jermaine Cole (J. Cole), Lupe Fiasco, Kendrick Lamar and other artistes sampled Fela on their tracks.
J. Cole sampled Fela Kuti & the Africa '70's Gentleman on his track in 2013 (Let Nas Down).
Lupe Fiasco sampled Fela's 1982 documentary audio interview as an intro on his track in 2015 (Prison 1&2 featuring Ayesha Jaco).
Kendrick Lamar sampled Fela's "I No Get Eye For Back" on his track (Mortal Man) in 2015.
Ab soul was featured on a track in 2016 by Rapsody (2AM), where he mentioned that "Music is the king of all professions".
Perception influences vision
Prophets in the beginning were musicians, writers and poets. If you give it a thought, the word "poet" was coined out of "prophet" or maybe "poet" is the prophet's nickname.
You find music in every aspect of life... i.e schools, movies, weddings, parties, even on the street and other gatherings.
Before televisions (tell a vision) came into play, radios existed that conveyed sounds and created imagery/audiovisual in the mind of the listener. . . . Which is why music comes before the music video. (Audibility before imagery then visibility)
If you don't participate in the reason why you were born, what's the essence of life?
That part of Tupac's rare interview from 1994 I posted resonated with the messenger. He felt like he was doing God's work.. (that feeling of authenticity made him a historical legend today).
Artists are passionate & authentic messengers chosen to elevate humanity & consciousness.
