AFROBEATS & HIPHOP
Yasiin Bey, a legendary rapper, singer, songwriter and actor formerly known as Mos Def released a song (Fear Not Of Man) off his album (Black On Both Sides) in 1999.

He sampled Fela's (Fear Not For Man) which was released in 1977 and I had prior knowledge to Fela's. (He keeps being an inspiration to the future).
Fela would have been a hip hop fan if he was still alive, because artists like Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole & others who've sampled him on their songs really wished they featured his presence, but he keeps living on with his footprints everywhere around history.
Teck-Zilla, a founding member of the Nigerian hip-hop recording company (Str8Buttah Productions), DJ, producer, sound engineer and writer produced a 13 track album in 2012, paying a tribute to the Legendary Fela titled below...
Track no 4 (Blackman's Cry) is my favorite.
If you haven't seen Fela's documentary, this album would give you an imagery of who he really was. The intro of his documentary in 1982 was used as the intro to this album. Teck-Zilla sampled Fela's songs and remixed his instrumentals with infused hip hop beats. The full album on Audiomack.
Nigerian rapper and record producer, Jesse Jagz featured Femi Kuti (Fela's first son) on his song (3rd World War) off his second studio album (Jagz Nation, Vol.1. Thy Nation Come) in 2013.
Femi Kuti released (Truth Don Die) in 1998 which was used as a soundtrack in a drama series centred around hip-hop (Wu-Tang: An American Saga) released in 2019.
Seun Kuti (Fela's second son) who was a grammy nominee in 2018 for his (Black Times) album with Fela's Egypt 80 band, did a 3 track remix EP (African Dreams) with Black thought, an American rapper, singer and actor in 2022.
Seun Kuti feels afrobeat & hiphop is the beginning of a new relationship but the relationship always existed. This new relationship is a manifestation of what would have been if his father was alive.
The remixed songs are from his grammy nominated album below:
African Dreams
Bad Man Lighter featuring Vic Mensa
Kuku Kee Me
You may just like them if you take the time out to listen 😎
HIPHOP & REGGAE
Nas (An American Rapper) & Damian Marley (Bob Marley's youngest son) did a joint album (Distant Relatives) released in 2010... Which is a timeless classic today.
Jay Z, an American rapper, record producer & entrepreneur featured Damian Marley on his song (Bam) off his 13th studio album (4:44) released in 2017. He also featured Ophlin Russell, a Jamaican DJ and singer popularly known as Sister Nancy (the originator of BAM BAM) in the music video. Sister Nancy's Bam Bam was released in 1982. A part of the video below.. Full video on Youtube.
Lupe Fiasco featured Damian Marley on his song
(Kingdom) off his (Drogas Wave) album released in 2018.
Stephen Marley featured Busta Rhymes & Konshens on his song (Pleasure & Pain) off his album (Revelation Pt.II: "The Fruit Of Life) released in 2016. He also featured Black thought on another song (Thorn Or A Rose) off the same album.
Jon Bellion once said Wu Tang raised him & Blaque Keyz once said OutKast raised him & Lupe changed him.
These genres birthed from a way of life got to synchronize in the future we're in today. One of the founding fathers of hip hop (Clive Campbell), popularly known as DJ Kool Herc immigrated from Jamaica to America. He hosted the first block party (his sister's birthday) at The Bronx, New York in 1973.
